Teacher Week '13-Monday, all about me!

Teacher Appreciation Week @blog hoppin' helps to celebrate who we are, share ideas and get to read some cool stuff about other teachers for a whole week

So to start of the week here is Monday and let's talk about me!

Number One - I guess I have been teaching for a while: I graduated in 1985 and started my first job in Queensland, Australia.
I had a multi age grade that were 5, 6, and 7 year olds. It was a baptism of fire.
At the end of my first week I was wondering what I had done and if I had made the right decision to teach so far from home.

Number Two - I have had many different jobs over the years.
I have been a shared art teacher between 6 schools, a principal of a small school for three years, a district reliever, an Innovation and Excellence Educator for two years, a Regional Based Literacy and Numeracy Coach for two years and I keep coming back to a classroom as there it where my heart is. So after 28 years that is what love still.

Number Three- My job currently is teaching 5 year olds - we call them Preps.
I am the team coach for the Prep team, I am the Curriculum Leader for our school of 545 students, I also coach our coaches, I am the ICT go to person.
It is busy, but I love it.

Number Four - But my most important role is at home.
Tony and I have been married for 27 years and have two teenagers, aged 18 and 16 and we live in a rural city in Victoria.
Or son is in his last year of school before he goes to University.
We live about 2000 km away from extended family, which is very hard sometimes.

Number Five - I love to read - non school stuff.
My favourite author at the moment is Sarah Rayne - very dark books and so not what I read normally.

Number Six - I have been known to sew and do craft - but haven't done so much of that lately.

Number Seven to Number Ten/Eleven- I love travelling, can't get enough coffee, am obsessed with shoes and handbags and wear too much black!!!!

Come back each night this week and see my responses to the other ideas for this Teacher Week.
