Swap, share, give post

love, laughter and learning in prep!

A group of us got together and decided to do a review of each other's products.

I have had the honor of being paired up with Julie from Oz Curriculum HQ.
This is her store link and button below is her blog link.

Oz Curriculum HQ

I chose to review her product called

Fractions Lapbook Parts and Wholes Galore

This was a perfect choice for the group I take for maths.
We share our kids in our team and work at point of need.

We have been experimenting with interactive note pages and this was perfect.

Each component comes with detailed notes and the end product allows each student to explore and consolidate new learning.

Julie has included references to the Australian Curriculum as well as USA CCSS.
There are also pages at the end that include imperial measurement.

The kids were engaged and the discussion was focused.
The language used was spot on and each child was able to be supported at their own point of need.

Every child ends up with a product that is a great reference and will be used many times over.

Julie this is an amazing product and any teacher who needs to work on fractions needs this pack.

There is a rafflecopter too - we are giving away one of each product reviewed.

You can go to Lauren's blog to view the other products and enter the rafflecopter

Five for Friday - 28th March

Here are my five randoms for this week

I have joined a huge number of TPT sellers to have a Spring Sale - everything is 20% off in my store and what a great way to clear that wish list you may have.
My sale is active 29th - 31st March (USA time)

We have been working on some serious 3D shapes this week. Have you used google Sketch Up?
A great tool for making 3D shapes.

Boy this month has been busy - I have put together some new teaching and learning packs.

I love Possum Magic and my husband, Tony, did the line drawings for me to use in this pack.

I made the first anchor chart pack for Daily 5 and love the pirate theme.
The second pack is a forever pack - it currently has 2 charts.
One for handwriting and one for spelling. I did them at the request of a buyer.
If you want other charts - email me and they will go in this pack and if you own it - you get new revisions at no cost to you.

This week I was in lots of classrooms and looking at Daily 5 and tracking of student learning. One of our fab teachers is so organised when tracking the M100W and is using a tracking sheet.

This week we picked up our tickets for our Singapore trip. My daughter and I are joining a friend and her daughter to go there for about a week. My friend, Melinda and I have a significant birthday and to celebrate - what better way than to shop in Singapore - no men allowed! My husband is secretly jealous about a trip overseas. I can't wait!

One week to go until term break...

3D shapes

We have been revising 3D shapes in Year 5/6 and today was about showing what you know.
We have explored nets, labels and parts of shapes.

We have these great nets to explore - they fold out, bend and are very hands on.

We can use them to help us work out nets and the name of the shapes that fit together.

Some students have been working on drawing these shapes to show what they know.

Then the extension group have been using Mathletics and google Sketch Up to show what they know.

How many 3D shapes you can see here?

A walk as Curriculum Leader

Today I got to walk in and out of classrooms wearing my 'Curriculum Leader' hat.

It is such a privilege to do this and be treated like a rock star in the One/Two building. I have taught most of these kids and they love showing me what they are up to and how much they have learnt since we have worked together.

We are using Daily 5 from P-6 and this was an opportunity to see our Preps (they have been at school for 8 weeks or 35 days) - they are all over 'read to self' and 'read to someone'.

They have been learning how to use their take home books as best fit books.

During this time I saw teachers working with a student one on one and tracking their progress.
Such a powerful way to work.
They can do this as these students are already showing great stamina and independent work habits.

'Read to Someone' is happening very well - a credit to our amazing teachers.

EEKK - eye tracking - one book at a time........asking questions, helping each other.......

Captain Underpants - Storybook Sunday

Welcome to Storybook Sunday. Each Sunday, link up with me to share a story book you have read or are about to read this week.

There are not many rules but please follow them

Post about the storybook you have read or are about to read.
Add the above graphic with a direct link back to Paula's Place
Link up by adding your post link to the link up below

You may choose one book or a few books.
Here are my books for this week.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants - I have some students this year who cannot get enough of them.
They are funny and are a huge hit with boys.
They are great- as they motivate boys to read.

They are a great read aloud book for 'Listening to Reading'

This is a website that is interactive to support the books.

There is also an app

I came across a website that also talks about why this book is banned in the USA.
I cannot believe that it has had more complaints than '50 Shades of Grey'

I'm sorry - but it just made me laugh - seriously it is a kids book!!!!!
Now your turn to link up

Five for Friday - 21st March

Here are my five randoms for this week

This week I was buddied up with a blogger and we exchanged products and I am about to review a product and I can't wait. A few of the bloggers here in Aus have teamed up and will reveal our thoughts soon.....watch this space

We have been searching for a new fridge and I am overwhelmed........I cannot make a decision

My family have rediscovered these ice creams and they are delicious - well they say so, I am not convinced.

I have been trying to get my notes right for Math and English groups....
You would think that in the time I have been teaching I would have this right by now.
I keep changing my mind - I am driving myself nuts

Our school is in a Mathematics Partnership Project with two other schools - with the aim of increasing staff and student knowledge.
I went to a meeting last week with reps from all three schools and while the project is a great one - it will mean more work for me. So watch this space and see how it pans out.
