Buddy PE

We love our buddies coming to PE with us.

Th older students act as coaches and take notes, use iPads to show how our gymnastics moves look and help to correct our moves.

Here are a few photos.

Getting ready for September 2014

Each new month brings new things to teach, revise and share.

We work in an incredibly busy profession and I have often wished that there was one place to go to and see what this month was all about.

I have decided to start each month (yes, I am a little late) with a show and tell.
I have put together a list to help teachers be prepared for this month and links to some of my resources you may find helpful.

For my American followers is about back to school, apples, Johnny Appleseed (26th), teddy bears, Labor Day, Grandparents Day (7th) and Fall.

For my Australia followers it is Father's Day, Literacy and Numeracy Week, Read a Book Day and Spring.

Just click on the images to see more information about each pack.

My October list will be released on the 15th of this month.

If you have ideas for up coming months - please email me pjshaw2@gmail.com or leave a comment below and I will add to my list if I can.

Happy Father's Day 2014

Happy Father's Day!

All around the world we celebrate much the same things but maybe at different times.

In Australia today it is Father's Day.

To all the sons and daughters out there, of any age I hope you get to spend time with your dad today. If you live some distance away - like I do - call your Dad.
If your Dad is no longer around for you, remind yourself of the great memories you shared together.
Above all - spend time with your family and enjoy every precious moment.
Have a great day.

The answer is culture.....

Our coaching team went to a Conference today around 'Culture'.
What is evident about a growing, organic and reflective community is the commitment to people.
Invest in people and lift your moral purpose and address what is your core business and outcomes will improve.
We heard how our Navy improved their mission by focusing on people.
There was an accountancy firm - Grant Thornton, who also addressed the issue of culture.
Sanitarium addressed this too and have remained a huge company.
The stories are transferable to our educational setting - now the hard work begins to do this in our place.
It is a brave workforce that addresses this.

A day of coaching

On Monday I have coaching conversations and some classroom visits, which take me to our Prep spaces for the morning. As the Curriculum Leader in the school this gives me a lovely chance to see what is happening across our school.

I am helping two great teachers fine tune Daily 5 and tweak some aspects of planning.
I also get to join them for half an hour to plan on Tuesday afternoon.

I love that teachers are reflective and continually improving what we do everyday.

For the rest of Monday I work with my own team around developing Maths Inquiry.
This is an exciting journey for us and I will blog about this next week - still tweaking.

I just love the displays in the Prep rooms.

Read to Self is a focus for us and we are looking for known words and checking for accuracy.

Five Little Monkeys

I have just posted my 'Five Little Monkey' set and it is 116 pages long and contains

Jameson matches bloggers/teachers up and we get to know each other by looking at blogs, facebook, emails etc and then send a box of goodies to that match, while someone else gets to know you and sends you one too.

This was my second time and Cara sent me an amazing box of sunshine. Cara thanks so much for all the items in my sunshine box. The last picture is fabulous. Cara is also a clip art designer and made me a mini me to use on nay of my stuff.
