Animals and Plants - Living and Nonliving

This term (eeeekkk that is tomorrow) our Prep Team will start a new topic and a new way of working. Even though we have been including our students' ideas and learning styles - we will be formally using an Inquiry Approach and using the Inquiry Cycle.

I shared our plan for our planning day - click here to see this post. This will show you how we planned and the steps we took as a team to get ready for this term.
Our big question is driven by what our students wanted to know about plants and animals.
HOW CAN I MAKE OUR WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR PLANTS AND ANIMALS?
This week is about tuning in and this is what we will be doing

TUNING IN EXPERIENCES: Week One
Share inquiry questions
Incursion - Animal Movers - recounts and iists of animals
Use library books to gather information
Brainstorm - share photos

Discovery Learning - legs and draw animals and group them, Vet Corner, Lego and making habitats, Sorting animals, Collages, Number lines with animals, netbooks and websites

We will start with Living and Non Living  - Wanted Dead or Alive and I have prepared this unit for us to use as well as the above tasks.
(Revised 2017)

Then we will move into our Plant Study

Next Australian Animals - watch this space (I haven't started this yet)

Somewhere will Marine Life - watch this space (I have my clip art and fonts ready)

Phew - it will be a busy term for us....
