ANZAC Day is an important day in Australian and New Zealand History. April 25 marks the day to remember the people who were lost and families who were changed forever. This pack is for early learners to begin to develop an appreciation of this significant day.
Each April 25 we come together as a nation (as do New Zealand) and publicly acknowledge the sacrifices that our ANZACs gave on what would have been a horrific battle at what we now call ANZAC COVE.
It is important to help our young people gain insight into what led up to this battle and how it changed and shaped our culture.
The content that we cover can be distressing and we need to monitor this and help our kids process the facts and emotions they come across in their work on this topic.
At the bottom of this post, there are some photos of ANZAC books and some links to short videos to watch with your kids. Here is a link to my Pinterest board that has lots of craft ideas. I will be adding to this over the next few days too.
I have put together a new pack that is open-ended and can be used with any picture storybook about ANZAC Day. At the bottom of this post, I have some photos of some of the books I personally own and will share with my grade.
