Here are my books for this week.

I am on a St Patrick's Day theme

These three books are in my Kindle collection and I then show them on the Smartboard so we can all see them.

The '7 Happy St Patrick Day Stories for Children" are a collection of short stories and quite entertaining. They are not the usual stories we read to our kids so are great for that reason alone.

The second one is a collection of items/traditions and facts that have pictures to match - again great conversation starters.

This one below is my favorite. The counting of Leprechauns is cute and the tasks they are doing fit with what a Leprechaun might do. The whole fantasy thing gets me and the children giggling at what they do is funny.

Measure Up K-1

When I put together a product - there is a part of me that goes with it when I post it to my digital shops.

They are like babies - nurtured, loved and they grow when others purchase them and use them.

I love the designing part, the searching of Curriculum, organising tasks and getting it right. The link between product and assessment is really important to me.

Listening to Reading

Here is our brainstorm for "Listening To Reading"

Here is our typed up anchor chart for our shared space.
Across the team and the school we have a united approach to brainstorming, language and the display of them.
So regardless of which teacher has you - the expectations are the same.

We have most children in 3-6 with leased netbooks and the small number of students who do not lease them have access to a laptop.

Our P-2 students have a set of netbooks to share and we use 5 splitters to have up to 5 on a netbook.

The students who lease them get to take them home each day and over the holidays. The response we get and increased level of skills is fantastic.

Your post needs to link back or it may be deleted.

You may choose one book or a few books.
Here is my book for this week.

In the front of my copy - there is a message that talks about why we read books to children.
They get to know the sounds, rhythms and words and make links to how we write. Here is a shortened version of what it says.

Hearing stories helps children learn to read.
They think about feelings.
They think about ideas.
Sharing a book shows we care!

It is a simple book and the pictures help to predict the text.
This book is great for rhyming words - bear/there, run/gun, me/be, tree/be, frown/down.
The size of the text - can be used to teach intonation and expression.
The illustrations and expression on the boy and the bear enable you to discuss emotions.
The ending allows you to make predictions and you could even produce some shared writing and a class book.
On some of the pages there are split images and the artwork is angular, funny and cute.

Happy Valentine Day and a Math Bundle

Real life and blogging life sometimes collide! Just love Valentine Day.

I am a real romantic at heart and Tony and I have known each other since 1985...

These gorgeous flowers were delivered to work today from my husband.

My teaching partner, Fiona, also had flowers delivered by her husband - we are two lucky ladies.

We were both called up to the office at break time and our kids thought we were in trouble.

Our kids reactions were funny. One child couldn't understand why a man would do this at all, she kept asking questions. touching them and shaking her head.

Here are some skip counting tasks for Math work - click on the image to go to my store. There is work on patterning, collections, ten frames, missing numbers, stories for 14, matching collections and roll and cover.

Each of the packs are available individually or as a bundle at amazing savings for you.

This is one of my biggest packs...

This pack is part of a bundle The Big Bundle – Valentine’s Day
It includes the following packs

I am also loving the melonheadz graphics.
