Classroom Decor Mega Bundle - Blue and Green Theme

Our new colors for this year are blue and green - they are calming and we love coming into our learning space.

As teachers we buy so many things out of our own money - we do this because when school is in we spend more time here then with our own families.

Our End of Day Questions are a great way to finish the day.
Our goal folders are manila folders cut in half. We have added labels and washi tape
(love WASHI TAPE...that's another whole blog post!)

These Calendar Cards are part of our bundle below.
Our folders are all blue and green and we have personalized them with labels and tabs.

Our agreed way of doing Daily 5 adds to our theme in these colors.
These posters make it clear what is expected from students and from me - our roles are clearly defined together at the start of the year.

Our Cafe and Daily 5 strategies are displayed near the conference table for easy reference.

Our back wall is our brag wall of all the great things we do together.

These blue and green boxes were on sale 4 for $4.00 - a bargain!

These larger ones were only 4 for $6.00

This bundle has added more blue and green items to our classroom that are learning focused.

We have pulled together our resources to help you build a calming space with a blue and green themed classroom. This bundle has 970+ pages and has everything you need to set up your classroom.

Links to each pack are at the end of this post.

A focus on writing

Oh my!

A before and an after photo.

I have been concerned about the writing my children were not doing in Daily 5 and 'Work on Writing'.

I reflected on what they saw as prompts and wanted to push them to do better and be motivated with increased stamina.

So I removed some stuff - re arranged some stuff to create a better space.

So I put the story wheel up on the wall - they can spin the wheel and write about a character - setting - plot. They love it, today we wrote about a zebra, in a backyard that wanted to play with you.

There is a new chart on what to do as part of the writing process. This will be in my TPT store on the weekend so follow me and you will know when it is there.

There are also prompts for writing genres and we had a great discussion about what types of writing we could do.

Graphics Melonheadz and Scrappin Doodles

I have had so many requests for my English Planner that incorporates Daily 5 - so I will put that up in my TPT store on the weekend.

Thanks to all my followers who are also pinning my stuff - I really do appreciate your support.

Tomorrow I have four staff visiting from another school in our region to see how Daily 5 looks in my room.

I used to work with this group as a regional based coach and I am nervous about them seeing me in my new 'habitat'.

Stay tuned for how it went.

Have a great week

An update on our focus wall

I have been playing around with our front wall that has our Anchor Charts and Word Walls.

Our Word Wall was too big - took up too much room. It didn't flow and the words didn't stand out.

I wanted a smaller one and wanted to move around the posters, so it was a bit more organised.

I am a bit obsessed with the graphics from Melonheadz and Scrappin Doodles at the moment.

So these cute kids have a letter each and a picture that relates to that letter/sound.

They look great and are smaller and work for us at the moment and fit so much better under our Smartboard.

I love that they are there, as some of my kids work on the floor to write and the words they need are just there at eye level for them.

Now the anchor charts sit better and I have room to add some more writing prompt posters - watch this space for more photos later in the week.

The  Daily5 Anchor Charts are free in my stores.

The blue posters - I am happy to email in PDF form for any followers of my blog.

Wednesday - Organising for instruction

I have a timetable up on my window and my organising starts from here. Our team put together the timetable, plans for Daily 5, Mathematics and Discovery Learning. If it sits here I never lose them!

Then comes the daily labels for my students so they know where they are.

The Learning Intention - so we all know what we are learning.

Then comes the groups - charts for Maths and charts for Daily 5. We do maths cohorts and share our 82 Prep among the 4 of us and cater for and extend all.

Cafe Signs are a must and the strategies as we teach them go up on the wall

Anchor charts for all to see - and we add to them as we go and make them living charts and places to check.

These drawers are my go to for Daily 5 and Maths. The larger one contains guided reading books for our coloured groups and the shorter one is for Maths. The small drawers on top contain worksheets or prompts for each day of the week.

This is my teacher 'stuff' where I keep my notes, records, paper work!

Tuesday - Classroom Digs, a tour

Tuesday night - link up! My Classroom Digs.
This post will be a bit different to those in the US. Our school year begins in February - so I will do a flashback and  put up some old photos from the beginning of the year.

If I had my time over, it would look very different, so next January I will post new photos.

I have been blogging since last September, selling on TPT since December and both these things have changed my life. These two lovely things in my life would make my classroom look so different.

But here we go - flashback photos.....a trip down memory lane for me!
The mess of tables an chairs before we started moving things,,,,

Getting my maths things ready

Maths all organised

Tables getting placed - we decided to have less tables than children. Daily 5 has our kids working on the floor so we do not need as many tables

We also decided as a team to have our teacher tables in the office - not in our space. I love this

Tubs for all the things that our kids have - not bag lockers. These are my editable tags and I have shrunk them for labels on lots of things.

Maths stuff - more - I love maths

Pencil baskets - ready for work

Room with a view, waiting for kids
