Buddies and Oliver Jeffers

We had a great buddy visit this week. This is when we visit another grade and help them out. Often we both learn from each other and it is exciting time for all of us. 

Our buddies in Year One/Two have been studying Oliver Jeffers and his books.

So we are helping them to plan and draft their own innovations on the text. 

Buddy PE

We love our buddies coming to PE with us. 

Th older students act as coaches and take notes, use iPads to show how our gymnastics moves look and help to correct our moves.

Today we went to our buddy grade and we talked natural disasters.

We brainstormed what they are and what happens when they occur.

These are amazing illustrations and the information that was recorded was a product of great conversations.

Buddies and when we grow up...

We have had our first official buddy meet.
We introduced ourselves and talked  about what we might be when we grow up.
This fortnightly session is just lovely and we look forward to these sessions.
Our buddies help us in the yard, we work with them, eat with them and do lots of learning together.
We find it helps to create a sense of community and caring in our school.
We have close to 540 students, which is very big for a primary school in our state.

So we work hard to create a sense of belonging for all our teachers, students and families.
