Thanksgiving Math Tasks

Thanksgiving Turkey Math Tasks

During the busy Thanksgiving season, we need to ensure our students are still learning and this pack will help you to check on those all important number sense concepts. This pack includes the following tasks – roll and cover, patterns, ten frames, matching groups, time, missing numbers, skip counting and simple problem solving.

Roll and Cover Use a 6 sided dice - roll and cover. There are three additional sets that ask you to +1, +2 and double the number rolled.

Pilgrim Patterns Color copy and laminate all the cards. There are four pattern strips to copy using the smaller cards. The smaller cards can be used to make your own patterns for a buddy to copy.

Ten Frames Color copy and laminate all the cards. There are two sets. Use as flash cards to trust the count and Subitise. Use to make and record number stories 5+4=9 3+2=5

Match the Turkey to the Feathers Sequence the turkeys and then add the correct number of feathers.

Turkey Time Color copy and laminate. One set is o’clock. One set is half past. Spread them out and match the correct labels.

Missing Numbers 0-21 Color copy and laminate all the cards. The single turkey cards can be used to sequence from 1-20. The single cards are also used to place the missing number on the correct card.

Talking Turkey Skip Counting Display the A-T cards around the room. Use the recording sheet to write your answer. Use the answer key to check.

Problem Solving Display the problems around the room. Use the record sheet to show your working out and your answers. Happy Turkey Day!

Pilgrims - Chores Now and Then

Looking back into history - there is always more than one side to tell.

This pack - doesn't go into whether the Pilgrims were right or wrong!

What it does do, is look at the types of chores the children of Pilgrims had.

Information pack on Turkeys for Thanksgiving

I have added a Turkey - Information Pack to my resources this year as well as bundled three of my Thanksgiving packs together.(see yesterday's post)

Turkeys– Information Text pack for Year 2/3/4

This pack provides information about turkeys. This information will assist in the writing of your own Information Report, guided by a rubric. (54 Pages)

KWHL - for Turkeys. There are color, plus black/white versions and a one page version

This will assist in assessing what your grade knows and will help when writing the Information Text

Facts - These cards can be used as discussion starters or display these facts about turkeys and discuss what they mean. They can be used as starters for the Information Text to help build the paragraphs

Photos - These photos are to be used to assist in writing the text. Print off and display around the finished Information Text

Reading - This text is to be used to record the main ideas and the supporting information. The second task is to paraphrase the text

Writing – Use the photos provided in the photo section to assist in writing the text. Print off and display around the finished Information Text. The rubrics are helpful in assessing the text. A planner is included for the Information text. There are a variety of papers and planners provided.
