My students love using these cards I made. We often use them to ensure we are fluent with counting but more importantly it is about being able to subitise.
We need to trust the count and know that 5 is a combination of 4 and 1, 1 and 4, 2 and 3 and 3 and 2 - even 6 take 1.The more we practise the more we are fluent.
We order them and we count them if we are not sure how many there are.
